Build a cold frame for your garden and get an early start to the growing season as well as extend the growing season in the fall.
In this class, you will build a 26 inch by 50 inch frame with hinged lid; complete, fully functional, and ready to use. The design can be assembled and disassembled with ease so you can move, transport, gift, store. This size can accommodate 4 full flats of seed starts with a little extra room for maneuvering.
The class will move step by step through the process of measuring, cutting, and assembling the cold frame. We will use the chop saw, cordless drill and impact driver, demonstrate cuts on the table saw, and use the bandsaw to cut rabbet joints. Students will gain an understanding of dimensional lumber and hardware selection, bit selection, body positioning, and safety. A thermometer and handout on building and using a cold frame is included.
