Join Fireweed blockprinting instructor and spoon carving enthusiast Jessie Merriam for a casual carving hangout to practice woodblock carving and printmaking, or spoon carving. Registrants need not arrive right at 4pm, but at least one hour will be needed for any printing. This session is intended for those with some exposure to these crafts (through a Fireweed class or elsewhere), to give practice time with accessible advice and access to tools. Full instruction not provided.

Tools provided (some may be shared, depending on attendance). Bring your own materials if you are working on a project or have questions about materials you've purchased. You may pre-purchase a 4x6" shina plywood woodblock (double sided) for $5 from the drop down menu.  Spoon blanks are also available for $6.  Limited materials (woodblocks and spoon blanks) will be available for on-site purchase as well. If you are blockprinting, ink and scrap paper will be available for experimenting! Contact jessiemerriam@gmail.com with any questions/materials needs.

This session is pay what you can: we recommend $10 to cover tool maintenance and admin time; anything beyond that is a donation to the shop's efforts to get a new physical space! (Tax-deductable donations can also be made at https://www.givemn.org/story/Fireweed).

*This event will be held outside, weather permitting. An email will be sent to registrants two hours ahead of time if a rain date is required.*
