Decorative Carving adds magic to any piece of furniture! Join Ouida Vincent on ZOOM to learn about her process of applying 17th century decorative carving to panels used in furniture. Ouida will teach you the braid, egg & dart, and s-pattern using one gouge and mallet on practice boards!

Each kit will include one gouge rental, one mallet rental, one nail punch rental, practice boards, a small clamp and carving station to hold your wood in place (also rented).

Materials can be picked up/dropped off for local students at East Lake Library between March 1-5th.  LINK to library. Out of state students will be given the option of requesting shipping and a return shipment envelope for an additional $30. (covers to & from priority shipping).  Students will return tools rented within 7 days of class completion.

About Ouida:

"I took my first woodworking and small engine repair class in Jr High and was one of only two women on the class. When I moved to Gallup, my realtor gently suggested that I take a class when she saw an example of my work. An adult education class was available at my local University of New Mexico branch and I enrolled. I tend to make things for myself. Square (or not so square) boxy things. Because I am a hobby wood worker, I am free to pursue other interests like 17th century carving, which for some reason, has taken hold of me and won’t let go. "
