In this class, students will learn the coiling techniques to create a handmade basket. Each basket kit comes with a wooden bottom, a length of sisal rope, a needle and waxed linen thread. Students will learn all of the techniques to create their own basket during this class.

This course will be held over Zoom. It is limited to 8 people in order to offer  more interaction with peers and instructor. The zoom link will be emailed to students after signing up for the course.  A recording of class will be available for 1 week after class for participants. 

Materials can be picked up/dropped off for local students at Jack's Hardware and Farm Supply  located  in Minneapolis starting 1 week before class.  Students will be given the option of requesting shipping  for an additional $16.50. (covers priority shipping).

Teresa Audet is an artist and educator from Minneapolis. Audet holds a BFA in Furniture Design from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and has studied at the Mount Fuji School of Fine Woodworking in Yamanashi, Japan. She has been awarded two Artist Initiative Grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and has participated in artist residencies and exhibitions internationally. Audet teaches furniture making and art nationwide, including Fireweed of Minneapolis, the North House Folk School, and Arrowmont School of Crafts. Audet is currently an MFA candidate in Sculpture at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Now offering sliding scale pricing! We know the pandemic has affected people in different ways and want to keep woodworking accessible. Suggested admission is $63,  but we now have a $53admission option and a $73 pay it forward option.

This course has 3 seats for the BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) community to take this course at reduced tuition. Fireweed  believes in wealth re-distribution while our nation has still not offered proper reparations to marginalized communities.  This registration type is for individuals who identify as BIPOC.
