Want to deepen your carving skills? Overcome your axe apprehension? Or carve a one of kind object? Our Carving Intensive is right for you! From axe skills to design, this course is packed with active demonstration and instruction on making an object of your choice while practicing making utilitarian items.
Day one we will focus on axe skills and preparing blanks (roughed out shapes).
Day two will cover knife work with a focus on Scandinavian carving techniques.
Day three will cover design and refinement.
Day four will cover finishing with oil, paint, or decoration.
Possible personal projects: shrink boxes, bowl, spoon, dala horse, or your own dream object!
Tools used: axe, knife, adze, draw knife, spoke shave and more This class is open to beginners and beyond.

This course has 2 free seats for the BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) community to take this course at cost for the materials fee of $50. Fireweed believes in wealth redistribution while our nation has still not offered proper reparations to marginalized communities.
