Fireweed Woodshop is excited to host a four part series in handcut joinery called Joint Gymnastics! Each part will be a two-class session: the first class will be a lecture, demo, and beginning hands on practice and the second class will be time for students to practice making the joint and ask questions. Joint Gymnastics is a skills-building workshop for students to learn how to use handtools, so the focus is on practice rather than creating a take-home project. Students are welcome to sign up for individual parts.

Handcut Dovetails are the fourth and final installment of the series! Dovetails are an incredibly strong form of joinery that have withstood the test of time. Handcut dovetails require a high level of precision and a healthy dose of patience. Through this class, students will learn how to lay out pins and tails, how to hand saw at an angle, and acquire a set of chiseling techniques that build accuracy and control. The goal of this class is for each student to successfully join two boards at a corner with handcut dovetails. Once you've successfully completed the joint, you'll be able to replicate it again and again.

The materials fee for this class is $20 and is included in the admission cost.
